NYTF 2020 Wrap-Up

New York Toy Fair 2020 is now in the Gigglicious history book!

Javitz Center made from lots and lots of Legos

Here’s a snapshot of how it all went down last month:

23 meetings, give or take. Yes, a couple of useless ones, but the rest were productive.

1 microscopic hotel room. Sorry, I meant a “normal” sized room in NYC.

2 pairs of tennis shoes (I’ve deemed this is the only way to survive)

0 winter coats (a first for us)

2 backpacks full of prototypes (this is an improvement on the full-sized luggage a few years back)

Annie and the Scooby Gang. (The only gang I ever wanted to be part of. I just wished they’d have let me in the car.)

NYTF Highlights:

A very New York picture

Any and every view of the Empire State Building at night, seriously.

Having someone say “This is the most exciting thing I’ve seen in two days!” Another one said, “Fast Track this directly to my email. Skip the portal.” Those were great moments where we secretly high-fived under the table.

Seeing a small horse, wearing a coat, standing on the sidewalk waiting for the walk light. Only in New York.

Expecting 0 licenses from a meeting, but getting a request for a proposal for 4.

Getting to hear Ben Veradi from Spin Master play the piano with his jazz combo at the Spin Master party at Stage 48. A lovely little treat.

Perfectly poured, delicious pints of Guinness at the ChiTag event at Connelly’s Pub.

Our pals, Mary Jo Reutter (inventor extraordinaire) & Brian Turtle (Endless Games) at the ChiTag Inventor Event
Our required, yearly, Times Square selfie. (We are up to about 10 of this same picture.)
He’s just a colorful dude.

The hype and endless work before we Toy Fair is exhausting. I’ll admit it–I gripe about it every year. I usually say I don’t want to go back the next year, but, you know what? I always do. Beyond the sales and networking opportunities (which are huge), its the sense of community, the feeling that we are all striving toward the same goal. It’s our chance to see old colleagues, even better than that, friends.

The NBA is never just a business. It’s always business. It’s always personal. All good businesses are personal. The best businesses are very personal.” ~Mark Cuban

Reactorz Launch and just a spot of Summer Madness 2016

Summer, summer, summertime

Time to sit back and unwind.

School is out and it’s a sort of a buzz

but back then I didn’t really know what it was

But now I see what happened is it’s

The way that people respond to summer madness…

There’s an air of love and of happiness

And this is the Fresh Prince’s new definition of summer madness.

You sang a little bit of that in your head, didn’t you?  How could you resist? DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s 1991’s summer hit, Summertime is a requirement for any summer playlist cause it’s so dang catchy.

Ahhh, summer.  The easy routine of this season has set in: we are overdoing it on episodes of Dr. Who and the Walking Dead, alarms have been boycotted, and impromptu neighborhood gatherings are happening nearly every other day to watch the UEFA Euro Soccer.  (Go Wales!)

Studio G is officially completed and is the permanent address for Ryan’s new digs now.  He’s excited about his new office.  He’s already designing and creating amazeballs ideas out there.

For now, they are available at Academy Sports and ToysRUs.  Here are the handy links for you to check them out online: Academy Sports and ToysRUs.  (Oh, and while you’re looking at them, you might even want to go ahead and buy one.  Tell your friends about them too.)  We hear that sales are growing and we are  gaining traction at these stores.  We are expecting them to be stocked at Amazon soon and other stores are getting on board.  They feel amazing and are absolutely incredible at night.

As always, thanks to our best cheerleaders for their unending support and encouragement for all our creative endeavors.  A kind word, a vote of support, or even a “Wow, that’s cool” always goes a  long way in motivating us to continue to do what we do.  Thank you from all of us.

Well, with all that said, I believe a summertime nap is overdue . . .

United States Patent issued to Gigglicious

We are pleased to announce that United States Patent number  8,794,486 B2 has been issued to Gigglicious on August 5th, 2014.  The patent is for a pump and valve system Ryan Wolfinbarger designed that is used in a toy water gun.  Although Ryan has been issued patents, this is the first one that is issued under the Gigglicious name.

Lil Snoopy Tippin’ Treats Game

We are always feel priveledged to be a part of the design process for fun & smart toys and games.   We were happy to work with TCG and assist them in developing their preschool game, Fisher Price’s Lil Snoopy Tippin Treats.  If you are needing a Christmas gift for a little person in your life, this is one you should consider!

Lil Snoopy Tippin Treats

It’s getting great consumer reviews.  Here is what one mom said:

“SMALL, COMPACT AND FULL OF LAUGHS!! Definitely still one of my 2Y son’s favorite. He walks to the dog to add the bones in the bowl and then when the dog tips the bowl and bones fall, he laughs and start over; chasing him around the room a little. Not that this little dog moves fast, but it does move in different directions. You never know when he’ll tip his bowl or when he’ll change direction. Which brings a little challenge to this game. And I’ll say it again: The snap on lid is genius! You play and store it away all-in-one! What a great idea!!”

The Toy Insider’s 2012 Top Summer Toys Award

We just got terrific news this week that we are yippee-skippee super excited about!

Swimways received the 2012 Top Summer Toys Award from The Toy Insider for the Flood Force Water Cannon. (Check out our portfolio page to see this water gun!)

It was humbling when we read what the award stands for:  “filling children’s lives with toys that are creative, fun, and will provide hours of happiness.”  It’s what we make an effort to do at Gigglicious with every sketch, scribble and prototype. This award feels like the happiest cherry on top for our studio!

This seems like a good time for an extra big thanks to Swimways for having confidence in Gigglicious & our concepts, too!
